The 2.5D machining operations are intended for creating NC programs for components with pockets, lugs, flat sections etc, for which, it is too time consuming to produce a 3D volume model of the component.
A visual model is formed from flat sections limited by closed contours, located at various heights with walls between them. In the same way, open contours and points can also be used in construction of the visual model.
The system allows visual checking of the geometry for a component created from flat contours, this automatically updates when the parameters of a contour are changed.

The operation processes the list that contains the contours and curve projections. Each object has its own machining mode set.

Pocketing tool path
The operation is used for 2D and 2.5D machining of pockets and islands, as well as for preliminary removal of the material before an engraving operation.
Removal of the material from a pocket can be performed by the tool spiraling out of the center, into the center or by using a parallel toolpath.
Chamfers
The operation is intended for machining chamfers or radiuses onto the horizontal edges of a model. This operation uses form cutters.
Optional lateral wall
An optional lateral wall angle can be added during the pocketing operation. This can be done into the workpiece material that is located along the walls of machined model and outside of restricted zones. The workpiece, machining zones and restricted zones are created by projections of closed curves.
